Review: NYX Blush in Taupe

NYX Blush in Taupe. The former holy grail of NikkieTutorials. So of course I needed to check this bad boy out. So off I went on the search for this beautiful contouring shade.

After searching a few stores here in the Netherlands I finally found a store that sells NYX Cosmetics and that is Douglas for my Dutchies over here.

The packaging is very simple. The package is shiny black with a see through top. And on the back you can see the shade and the ingredients. Once you open the blush you can see that there are little pyramids (?) pressed into the blush.

Here you can see the blush without flash (top) and with flash (bottom). You can definitely see that the colour with flash is more brown gray than the picture without flash. One the picture without flash the blush looks like the wrong colour for my skin.

Now it is time for some swatches. I first but a base on my face starting with foundation, concealer and powder. After that I quickly put some eyeshadow and mascara on my eyes. And lastly I filled in my eyebrows. Everything was done except for my contouring, blush and highlight.

As you can see the colour is very present. This pigment is good on the skin. The swatch on my arm was a bit disappointing because I had to keep adding product before I finally saw result. I was very happy to see that wasn’t the point when I added it onto my skin.
The contour right now is very strong. Time to blend and soften it.

I blended the contour here into my skin going up. The blending went very easy and didn’t leave any streaks or went patchy.

I really like this contouring shade. I’ve been using this product for about a month now and I really like it. The colour suits my skin and if you want to intensify the contour you can by adding a bit more product and it still looks really good. It’s also a very good product to contour your nose.
Overall conclusion. I’m very happy that I bought this bad boy. And thank you Nikkie for recommending this blush.

My highlight and contour routine

A few days ago I was doing my make-up and decided to shoot some photo’s of my highlight and contour routine. And today I wanted to share that with you all.

I started off with foundation all over my face. I used the Max Factor Face Finity All Day Flawless in the shade Light Ivory 40. I used a buffer brush to apply this all over.

Then it was highlight time. I used the Catrice highlighting and concealer pen in number 10 to highlight my face and conceal any spots I might have. I buffed that in with a damp beautyblender.

Than it came to the contouring part. I used NYX Blush in Taupe [review of this product is coming soon] to contour my face. I contoured my cheekbones, jawline and a little down the sides of my nose.

After that I filled in my eyebrows, put some mascara on, slapped on some blush and put lipstick and lipgloss on.

But I found that I looked a little dull. So I grabbed some eyeshadow and completed the look I already had on my face.

I also made a winged eyeliner and made the look come together.

The products I used:

Max Factor Face Finity All Day Flawless Foundation in Light Ivory 40
Catrice Highlighting and Concealer Pen in 10 Ivory.
NYX Blush in Taupe
Catrice Single Absolute Eye Colour in 350 Starlight Expresso
Catrice Prime and Fine Mattifying Powder
Sleek Blush in Rose Gold
Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in 101
NYX Butter Gloss in Vanilla Cream Pie
Max Factor Clump Defy Extensions False Lash Effect Mascara
Essence I Love Extreme Mascara
Sleek i-Divine Au Naturel Pallet
Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner in 01 Black

Love, Yara.

Spring is upon us.

Hello guys. Long time no see. I’ve been away for a few months to gather my thoughts. To see if I really want to do this. And I think I made my decision when the sun peaked through the clouds and the temperatures were rising a bit.

I’ve decided to follow through with this. I want to see what happens and I want to have a place where I can put my thoughts. So from now on there are going to be two blog post every week. Those are coming on Tuesday and Thursday. I want to do reviews of products I really like, I want to have personal updates of how I am doing and I maybe want to start making video’s. I’ve already shot some clips of my day but those came out horrendous so I may try again soon.

For now I want to thank you for reading this. And for waiting so long till you heard from me again.
I love you all. And I speak to you on Thursday.

Love, Yara.
